The Perth Museum building, built by Multiplex and designed by Hassell+OMA, is a bold and distinctive design that is inspired by Western Australia’s land formations and the stories of this place. It is a beautiful mix of contemporary and historic architecture, that integrates four heritage-listed buildings with a dramatic new building that includes eight new galleries, a 1000sqm special exhibitions gallery, multipurpose spaces for programs, learning studios, cafe and food and beverage spaces.
Everett Smith Electrical contacted Clevertronics to discuss the emergency lighting requirements for the site which included a testing system.
The existing heritage listed Perth museum dates back to 1899 so the integration of a new modern build with an existing 120-year building was a huge challenge in itself. All heritage listed guidelines had to be followed along with allowing for a modern monitored system and the hardware that is required to make it function.
The contractor decided that having both general lighting and Emergency on the same lighting control system was the best solution for this project. A DALI control system was selected to achieve this outcome and it was imperative that emergency lighting fittings selected on the project were not only DALI compliant but DALI registered.
Clevertronics has an extensive range of DALI registered fittings and also a proven history with Everett Smith when it comes to local support, knowledge, engineered solutions, on-time delivery and through-life support on each project. These were all key requirements that were pivotal in being selected to partner with them on the Perth Museum project.
All 878 DALI registered fittings on the project were installed and commissioned seamlessly with no concerns from either the contractor or integrator. The level of local technical support was a huge contributing factor in the delivery and success of the project.
Clevertronics WA state manager, Joe Cicchini, was involved in the project was proud of the end result. “Providing local support is what we do well, and making all of the project items available for the contractor in the local supplier’s warehouse further simplified the success of the projec. It is great to have contributed to an important landmark project here in Perth” Joe added.
With a difficult challenge to overcome, the principle of Westminster Abbey Infirmary asked Clevertronics to provide a solution compatible with existing emergency light fittings designed to suit a heritage building application.
