Cliveden House is a magnificent Grade I stately home with a rich and extensive history, now operated by Iconic Luxury Hotels.
Cliveden House is a stunning Grade I-listed mansion in Berkshire with a rich history and is grand in architecture. Now managed by Iconic Luxury Hotels, the property is carefully maintained by the National Trust, which is committed to its preservation. With its elaborate interiors and historical importance, Cliveden House is not just a luxury destination but also a protected National cultural treasure.
As part of ongoing efforts to modernise infrastructure while preserving heritage integrity, the estate needed a compliant and future-proof emergency lighting system. The solution had to meet strict safety standards without sacrificing the building’s aesthetics or structural integrity.
The Challenge
The primary challenge was integrating a modern emergency lighting system into a historically significant, Grade I-listed building without causing disruption or altering its architectural features. Facility managers were tasked with ensuring full compliance with emergency lighting regulations whilst preserving the delicate finishes and structure of Cliveden House.
Running new cabling through any heritage building is never ideal and practical due to conservation restrictions and the risk of damaging protected areas. Additionally, the hotel had to remain fully operational throughout the project. The installation had to be carried out with minimal disruption to guests and staff. There was also a need to reassure the client of the installation team’s ability to work sensitively in such environments.

The successful implementation of the L10 and Zoneworks XT HIVE emergency lighting system at Cliveden House has eliminated the need for maintenance and replacements for more than 12 years. The system provides a discreet architectural finish while ensuring that all compliance and reporting obligations are automatically managed.
